Manthey-Racing will start the Nürburgring 24 Hours from pole position. Porsche works driver Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) clocked the fastest lap in Top 30 Qualifying in the #911 Porsche 911 GT3 R, setting a time of 8:09.105 minutes. Vanthoor’s fellow works driver Frédéric Makowiecki (France) was sixth fastest (8:10.037 minutes) in the #912 car. Porsche Young Professional Dennis Olsen (Norway) qualified 20th in the third Manthey 911 (8:13.887 minutes).
Vanthoor set the fastest time in the second qualifying session. In doing so, he also achieved the best combined time from qualifying sessions one and two. Vanthoor is joined in the number 911 car by Kévin Estre, Romain Dumas (both France) and Earl Bamber (New Zealand). Driving duties in the number 912 are also shared exclusively by Porsche works drivers: Makowiecki starts alongside Richard Lietz (Austria), Patrick Pilet (France) and Nick Tandy (Great Britain). As well as Olsen, Germans Otto Klohs and Lars Kern (Porsche test driver), and Switzerland’s Philipp Frommenwiler will alternate at the wheel of the number 12 car.
