New Zealander Earl Bamber has started his Porsche Carrera Cup campaign in Germany strongly with a race win and a third placing in the season-opener today.

Racing at Hockenheim, he also recorded the fastest lap for both races with 1min 43.210sec and 1min 42.786sec respectively.

“It was incredible for me and the team especially when we were able to claim our first victory of the season during the first race weekend,” Bamber said.

“I think we will only grow and get stronger from here onwards.

“We started sixth on the grid for the first round and it was already fantastic that we were on the podium. In round two we started seventh so it is definitely amazing to finish the race in first place.”

The 23-year-old led the championship alongside Philipp Eng – both have scored 36 points from the two rounds.
