Mercedes has officially pulled the covers off its 2014 Formula 1 challenger, entitled the W05.
The Brackley-based outfit, which shook down the new machine at Silverstone last week, is so far one of only two teams, along with Ferrari, to avoid the ‘anteater’ nose design brought on by the new regulations.
Nico Rosberg gave the car its maiden run at the aforementioned closed-door outing, but ongoing team-mate Lewis Hamilton will be the first to get behind the wheel when testing begins at the Circuito de Jerez on Tuesday.
Mercedes is bidding to win its first World Championship as a factory team since 1955. Last season, the outfit finished second in the Constructors’ standings, its highest placing since returning to the sport in 2010.
