There’s been a high number of high-profile incidents and records shattered at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, and the Great Race hasn’t even started yet.

Jamie Whincup will start from outside the top 20, so will David Reynolds and Chaz Mostert, and hot favourites Garth Tander and Warren Luff are already out of the race.

Kiwi gun Shane Van Gisbergen starts from ARMOR ALL Pole Position, Volvo and Nissan return to the top 10 on the Bathurst grid, and so will the Moffat and Perkins names.

It’s been a fateful Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 so far – who knows what’s in store when we go racing for 1000 kilometres today.

But what we do know, is that this is certainly the race you don’t want to miss.

Although they’re the headlining show, the high octane entertainment doesn’t end with the V8 Supercars.

The Minardi Formula One two seater, Touring Car Masters, V8 Ute Series and Carerra Cup will all lay down some rubber in the early morning, while the V8 Supercars will take to the track at 7.50am for a warm up ahead of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

At 9.25am, the driver pairings will all complete a final lap of the circuit before battle during the Drivers’ Parade.

Make sure you’re trackside to salute your favourites as they gear up to tackle 1000 kilometres around Mount Panorama – get kitted out in their team gear too down at Merchandise Alley before the race.

The FA18 Super Hornet will complete it’s traditional flyover before the 161 lap race  be there to see it roar at incredible speeds. The RAAF Roulettes will also be on hand performing breath-taking displays, using only hand-eye coordination to fly at speeds of up to 590 kilometres per hour.

Come and see Mount Panorama roar under a beautiful Bathurst day – it’s only a two and a half hour driver from the Sydney CBD, with free parking on arrival.

Tomorrow is the day

Why on earth would the organisers not have the Bathurst race on free to air TV in NZ? Are they that broke or just plain stupid. Many have a interest in the spectacle but are not enthusiasts to the degree of going to races or being held to ransom to view it. I would guess this contingent makes up 70%.
You limit the power of the race and the sponsors reach by not having the race free to air.

I agree, even slightly delayed with ads on Prime would have been enough for me. Leave the live and uninterrupted coverage on SKY.
As it was, I enjoyed a lovely day outside in the sun!
