TeamVodafone endurance co-driver Warren Luff has taken a locally modified Mitsubshi Lancer Evo IX to victory in the 2012 World Time Attack Challenge at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Run as a series of qualifying sessions, Luff’s best time of 1:25.02 was good enough to defeat his 14 ‘Pro Class’ rivals.

Luff’s effort was a full 2.16s quicker than the second placed Evo IX of Garth Walden.

Kiwi Earl Bamber (Nissan Silvia) completed the all-Australasian podium after improving his best time in the dying minutes of the final session.

Japanese pharmacist Under Suzuki was the best of the eight international entries in his Nissan 200SX, while Nob Taniguchi completed the top five in his Honda S2000.

The winner of the past two Tim Attack events at the circuit, Tarzan Yamada, had a weekend to forget in his Evo IX – failing to set a time in any of the sessions due to mechanical issues.
