After an all-action opening round at the Sulphur City Sprint meeting in Rotorua in early February this year the ProKart Series fires back into action headlining the Point 2 Point Citrus meeting at Te Puke this weekend.

Auckland teenager Simeon Woolsey was the big mover in the premier KZ2 class at the Sulphur City meeting and heads to the KartSport Bay of Plenty club’s Te Puke Auto Electric Raceway at Fagan’s Valley with a two point lead over fellow young gun Aaron Wilson in the series points standings.

Woolsey and Wilson are part of a new youth wave in the KZ2 class, with another two point gap between Wilson and third placed Logan Brown from Auckland and just the one point separating Brown and Hamilton ace Rhys Tinney, and Tinney and Auckland’s Connor Westbury.

This weekend’s meeting also sees the return of two of the class’s other impressive young drivers, Mitch Brown and Jordan Morris.

Leo Bult and Roger Beuvink also make their 2016 series debut in the KZ2 Masters class, while local man Dave Brennan is back in the KZ2 Restricted class.

Aucklander Jared MacKenzie heads the points standings going into the weekend in the KZ2 Masters class, with former Stock Car ace Graeme Lambert from Mangakino second, series’ promotor Steve Brown third and fellow vets Mark Lane and Mark Wheeler fourth and fifth respectively.

Defending class title holder Garry Cullum has an early series lead, meanwhile, in KZ2 Restricted, with Aaron Cunningham second and Shaun Curran and Andrew Jackson tied for third.

There will be action at Te Puke Auto Electric Raceway at Fagan’s Valley on both days this weekend with qualifying and two heats for the ProKart Series classes on Saturday and the remaining heat/s and Pre-Finals and Finals on Sunday.

The KartSport Bay of Plenty club is also running a full schedule of support classes including Cadet ROK, Vortex Mini ROK, Rotax Max Junior and 125cc Rotax Max Light and Heavy.
