Paddon takes well deserved 5th in WRC Rally Mexico

New Zealand driver Hayden Paddon has held on to finish fifth in the Rally of Mexico.

The World Rally Championship event was won by Jari-Matti Latvala (Finland).

Paddon and co-driver John Kennard overcame mechanical problems in their Hyundai to  push up to fifth on Sunday (NZ time) and maintained that position on the final day, finishing 6m 22.6s down on the winners.

Latvala won from Volkswagen team mate Sebastien Ogier (France) with Hyundai’s Dani Sordo (Spain) third.

The result sees Paddon fifth on the season points table with 29 points.

Ogier continues to head the drivers championship with 77 points.
