Paddon’s Le Mans start to Tour de Corse

HAYDEN PADDON WILL BRUSH UP ON HIS RACING SKILLS BEFORE THE UPCOMING TOUR DE CORSE RALLYE DE FRANCE (1- 4 OCTOBER) WITH A COACHING SESSION AT THE FAMOUS CIRCUIT OF THE 24 HEURES DU MANS.

In common with most WRC drivers, Paddon has never before tackled the Corsican event, which is making a return to the championship after a seven year absence.

And after some impressive results this season on gravel, the Kiwi accepts he still has plenty to learn about tarmac rallies. “It’s a big blind area for me, so with Corsica and Spain coming up I have two rallies to focus on it,” he told wrc.com.

“I’ve got a couple of days training with different tutors before we get there. I have a day in France at the Le Mans track with a school and then a day testing with a rally tutor. Hopefully that will help a bit.

“Up to now I’ve watched the Tour de Corse on TV but that’s about it. It’s seems like a more traditional tarmac event where it’s more about the technique – more so than the last round in Germany,” he added.

As well as his coaching sessions, Paddon will get a full day in his Hyundai i20 World Rally Car at a  pre-event test. He will get more seat time before Corsica at a development test for the squad’s recently-unveiled 2016 car.
