Erebus Mercedes back on track at Winton

Erebus Motorsport’s Mercedes AMG Supercar has hit the track at Winton, as the team evaluates a possible race return for the E63 next year.

As revealed on Monday night, the team is running the car for the first time in three years, with Luke Youlden and David Reynolds both slated to drive.

Images and a brief video have emerged from the car’s outing at the rural Victorian venue, which is taking place alongside the squad’s test day with its two Holdens.

Youlden is working on possible Virgin Australia Supercars Championship wildcard and Dunlop Super2 Series starts with the car next year.

The car remains as presented when Will Davison last raced it at the 2015 Sydney 500, aside from an Erebus badge replacing the Mercedes star.

Erebus ran its E63s in the main game for three years before parking them and switching to Commodores.

Erebus is one of four teams at the circuit, with Brad Jones Racing, Walkinshaw Andretti United and Garry Rogers Motorsport all in attendance.

BJR is running a host of young drivers including recently-crowned Australian Formula 4 Champion Jayden Ojeda.

GRM is meanwhile fielding James Golding in his ZB and Porsche driver Dylan O’Keeffe, who is undertaking an evaluation day in one of the team’s Dunlop Super2 VFs.
