One of New Zealand’s largest motorsport events turned sour overnight after a break-in at a support tent where several expensive supercars were stored.
Police said tools and a support vehicle were stolen in the burglary at the ITM Auckland SuperSprint event in Pukekohe.
District prevention manager Inspector Matt Srhoj said officers were alerted to the incident on Sunday morning.
“Today police have been making inquiries at the scene, a forensic examination has been completed and any relevant CCTV footage will be reviewed,” Srhoj said.
Event organisers said they were aware of the incident and police were investigating.
Police appealed for information in relation to the burglary.
