New MG6 XPower TCR car makes its debut in TCR China

The new MG6 XPower TCR car will race in the joint TCR Asia – TCR China event at the Zhejiang International Circuit this weekend, making its first racing appearance since being unveiled.

The car was revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show back in April, but has yet to take to the track in anger in any TCR series.

The car has been developed and built in China, where the MG brand is owned by the SAIC Motor group.

The MG XPower racing team will run two cars at Zhejiang, for Macanese racer Rodolfo Avila and Chinese racer Zhang Zhen Dong.

The cars will not be eligible for championship points as they have been allowed to race under a temporary TCR homologation form, having not yet been tested as part of WSC Group’s Balance of Performance [BoP] system for equalising TCR cars.
