Valentino Rossi suffered a concussion but escaped serious injury following his crash in the Aragón Grand Prix on Sunday.
Rossi lost control of his Yamaha on the approach to Turn Seven and suffered a high-side accident, landing heavily into the tarmac run-off before tumbling into the gravel.
Rossi was taken to the medical centre at the track before being transferred to the nearby Alcañiz hospital.
“Valentino suffered a concussion with a suspected loss of consciousness,” said Clinica Mobile doctor Michele Zasa.
“From a neurological point of view he has recovered very well. He was taken to hospital in Alcañiz to make a further check, in particular a CT scan of the skull that has ruled out any bleeding in the brain. As a precaution he will be observed in the coming hours, but there are no special reasons for concern.”
Update: Yamaha released a statement late on Sunday evening confirming that Rossi has discharged himself from hospital, but will be under observation from the Clinica Mobile in his motorhome in the paddock overnight.
