Nine-time world rally champion Sebastien Loeb shook down the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 that he will race next year at the Navarra circuit on Tuesday.
The Frenchman, who will only take part in four WRC events in 2013, will race the McLaren in the GT Sprint Series, the championship replacing the GT1 World Championship.
Loeb had already driven the car – run by Von Ryan Racing – at this year’s French GT Tour final at the Paul Ricard circuit (pictured).
“We were convinced by McLaren. We saw the car at Paul Ricard and it was a positive first meeting,” said Loeb.
“I like the handling. It’s a modern car with a carbon chassis and undeniable technical qualities. Its reliability is proven and the support the teams get from the manufacturer is also an important factor.”
Loeb said the Navarra test had been positive, although he concedes there is still a lot of work ahead for him.
“It all went well and the balance was spot on,” Loeb said. “The circuit is nice with some fast corners. We made some good progress with the set-up.
“It was an interesting day, even if there is still a lot of work to do.”
