Sebastien Loeb has confirmed he will contest next year’s GT Sprint Series in a McLaren MP4-12C GT3.
The Frenchman confirmed his decision at Thursday morning’s season launch of the Citroen World Rally Team – the squad with which he will tackle four rounds of the 2013 World Rally Championship.
The nine-time world champion’s focus next season will, however, be on racing as he tackles his first year-long series.
In addition to his McLaren outings – which will be run by his own Sebastien Loeb Racing team – he will also prepare for Citroen’s proposed entry to the World Touring Car Championship in 2014.
Loeb said: “I will do the World GT Championship. I like the format of the races in this championship it is for two one-hour races through the weekend. There are two drivers and we have the tyre change as well.”
He drove an MP4-12 GT3, run by Von Ryan Racing on behalf of his own Sebastien Loeb Racing operation, at this year’s French GT Tour final at Paul Ricard.
