Old school racing returns to Highlands Motorsport Park in January with the mighty ENZED Central Muscle Cars headlining the Festival of Speed race weekend.
Two days of classic race action and fantastic entertainment off the track come together to create a spectacular weekend, 30 and 31 January 2016, to enjoy with the whole family.
Mike Sentch, Highlands’ general manager, says: “Hugely popular with motoring fans of all ages, the Central Muscle Cars are supported by the Pre 65 category plus Highlands’ own modern and nostalgic classics, and historic saloons and single-seater classes, all of which promise spectacular race action.
“We can’t wait to see a field of at least 30 ENZED Central Muscle Cars back in action at Highlands with Kiwi racing legends like Dean Perkins in his massive Ford Falcon showing us all how it’s done.
“Add in great kids’ activities, fantastic food and refreshment stalls, free grid walks, free buses to and from Cromwell and the free Highlands bus which takes you around the circuit to the different spectator areas as well as the Jurassic safari park and adventure playground, and you’ve got another spectacular weekend of entertainment at Highlands.”
Run two times previously, the Highlands Festival of Speed is an out-and-out celebration of New Zealand motorsport. With cars from across the eras, the public grid walks and public access to all the pit area offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the classic and historic machinery and the folk who love racing them.
Tickets for the Highlands Festival of Speed are now on sale from TicketDirect.co.nz or from the Highlands’ museum office. Pre-event ticket prices are $45 per adult for Saturday or Sunday, or $70 for a weekend pass. Children under 16 years of age are free accompanied by a paying adult.
“The Highlands Festival of Speed is old school racing at its best, all set at New Zealand’s finest motorsport facility – Highlands Motorsport Park! Enjoy a great day out with family and friends.”
