Jules Bianchi came out on top in Felipe Massa’s kart event at the Beto Carrero circuit this weekend, claiming the Desafio das Estrelas trophy. The Frenchman finished first and fourth in the pair of races, enough to outscore nearest rival Felipe Nasr.
Having stormed to victory in the first race, the reversed grid rule saw Bianchi start the second race from eighth. Despite the competitive nature of the field, the 23-year-old carved his way through and picked up the points he required. It was the perfect outcome for Bianchi after he was disqualified in 2012 for a technical infringement.
Behind Bianchi, who is fighting for the vacant Force India seat, and GP2′s Nasr, it was ex-Formula 1 driver Lucas di Grassi who completed the podium. Race organiser Felipe Massa finished eighth, while Fernando Alonso failed to make the top ten.
The top ten in the standings:
1. Jules Bianchi
2. Felipe Nasr
3. Lucas di Grassi
3. Nelson Piquet Jr.
5. Vitantonio Liuzzi
6. Beto Menteiro
7. Sébastien Buemi
8. Felipe Massa
9. Vitor Meira
10. Antônio Pizzonia
