Porsche Team LMP1 drivers Brendon Hartley and Earl Bamber were out testing the 2017 919 Hybrid for the first time today at Motorland Aragon. Together the pair managed 179 laps of the Spanish circuit in foggy conditions which interrupted the team’s running.

For Bamber, it was his first competitive run in an LMP1 car since his return to the team’s WEC squad was announced at the Porsche Night of Champions end-of-season gala earlier this month.

“It’s good to be back in an LMP1 car after such a long time,” 2015 Le Mans winner Bamber said. “The 919 Hybrid has taken big steps forward since I drove it last time.

“I’m looking forward to driving it more in the near future.”

This test also marks the first public sighting of Porsche’s 2017 WEC challenger, which is set to take on Toyota’s next hybrid prototype which is expected to be a significant update on the 2016 TS050.
