A late flyer by Chaz Mosert has put the No. 90 MARC Cars Australia BMW M6 GT3 atop the time charts in Free Practice 3 at Bathurst, in preparation for Sunday’s 12-hour.

Questions, meanwhile, surround the participation of the No. 24 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, following an accident by former race winner Florian Strauss.

The BMW, competing in the GT3 Am class, was the first car to break the 2:03 barrier, with Mosert reeled off a best lap of 2:03.312 late in the 60-minute afternoon session.

It bumped the No. 88 Maranello Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3 of Jamie Whincup by 0.936 seconds.

The No. 8 Bentley Team M-Sport was third quickest overall, with the No. 23 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 and No. 22  Mercedes-AMG Team STM/HTP Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 completed the top-five.

Strauss lost control of his Nissan and slapped the wall. While the German managed to bring the car back to the pits, it reportedly sustained chassis damage, casting questions whether it can return to action.

The fourth and final free practice session of the day is set for 4:05 p.m. local time.
