Reiter Engineering will enter a Chevrolet Camaro GT3 in the opening round of the Blancpain Endurance Series in Monza, with further outings of the American muscle car under consideration.
Three familiar names will take the wheel of the Camaro at the beginning of April, as Peter Kox, Tomas Enge and Albert von Thurn und Taxis will try to demonstrate the potential of the car on the long straights of Monza.
The Chevrolet Camaro GT3 was developed by SaReNi United, a division within Reiter Engineering with its name derived from the first names of Hans Reiters’ three daughters, and was put in the market as an alternative for the more expensive GT3s with a competitive price tag of $265,000.
“The Camaro is something of a rebel. It relies on the massive power of the V8 engine to be among the frontrunners,” said Hans Reiter.
“At the same time, it is one of the most cost-effective cars on the starting grid, which is why it represents the ideal solution for cost-conscious teams and drivers to get involved in the Blancpain GT Series.”
An update package was introduced in mid-2013 as the original version of the car struggled to be competitive, with the brakes being a particular point of concern.
The Camaro is now the only GT3 car equipped with 19-inch rims, which were introduced to accommodate the necessary lager brake discs.
