Incident-packed free practice sessions today at Teretonga as Lucas Auer continues his strong form with top times on-track.
Jann Mardenborough was fastest rookie, second quickest in the opening session, with returning racer Alex Lynn third.
Auer’s first fastest time of the day came in the ninth lap of the session, a 55.296 in sunny but windy conditions.
In the second session, a series of off-track incidents and two crashes disrupted proceedings. Bruno Bonifacio flipped his car and was unable to continue mid-session; Norway’s Dennis Olsen also crashed after going off the track, his car returned to the pits on a recovery truck.
Lucas Auer, though, never put a wheel wrong and was the first and only racer to break into the 54 second bracket. The race lap record for Teretonga is a 54.611 seconds set by Earl Bamber in 2008.
