Justin Wilson remains in a critical condition after suffering a severe head injury in a freak accident during Sunday’s IndyCar race at Pocono.
The Briton was airlifted to Lehigh Valley Health Network Cedar Crest Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania after being struck on the helmet by a large piece of debris shed by Sage Karam’s Ganassi car after it spun and hit the outside wall.
Following the impact, Wilson’s car swung down the track and drifted nose-first into the inside barrier.
The medical update, which was released by IndyCar on Monday, indicates that the 37-year-old’s condition is essentially unchanged since he was first assessed yesterday evening.
