World Rally Championship leader Sebastien Ogier has been linked to a test in Bentley’s Continental GT3, with the Frenchman saying he hopes to do more circuit racing in the future.

Ogier finished 13th in the recent Monaco Porsche Supercup race, his debut in the series, and had high hopes of returning to the championship at this week’s British Grand Prix.

He was unable to conclude an agreement for Silverstone, but he has already got the green light from his Volkswagen team principal Jost Capito for a run in the Bentley.

“We are open to this,” said Capito. “It’s clear that the WRC for him and for us is top priority, but if there is space to do something else then why not?

“It’s the same as Supercup, Bentley is in the [Volkswagen] Group and it’s good for all of us and good for the promotion if the drivers do something different.”

Ogier added: “It started almost as a bit of a joke, but of course I will be very happy if it can happen. I am always happy to get a new opportunity of racing.

“I love rallying, but I also love the diversity. I will not be happy to race all the time on tracks, so if I can have a bit of both, it’s perfect.”

Bentley’s new GT racer could make its debut later this year.
