Kiwi Rotax Max category duo Daniel Connor and Daniel Kinsman finished line astern in sixth and seventh places respectively in their class final at the fourth round of this season’s Australian Rotax Max Pro Tour in Newcastle on Sunday.
Continuing the good form he has shown since the start of this season’s Pro Tour, Connor qualified fifth and twice finished in the top three in the Rotax Max Light class heats before finishing seventh in the Pre-Final and sixth in the Final.
Kinsman didn’t have quite such a charmed run through the heats – after qualifying ninth he finished fourth in the first one but dnfed the second and finishing 13th in the third – however he made his way back up through the field from P22 on the grid to cross the finish line in 12th place in the Pre-Final then worked from 12th at the start to seventh at the line in the Final.
Top Australian driver Tyler Greenbury ran out the winner in the Rotax Max Light class from Daniel Rochford with Reece Davidson third.
Connor and Kinsman now return home to prepare for the third round of the YOGG-sponsored Rotax Max Challenge of New Zealand at Te Puke over the April 20-21 weekend but will be back in Australia to contest the fifth round of the Pro Tour at Geelong in May
