Rainmaster: Nick Cassidy apparently has no need to re-familiarise himself with the agile, fast TRS cars at the Manfeild race circuit.
He is stepping back into a car for the Grand Prix weekend only, and was immediately fast in testing over the Thirsday and Friday sessions – worn tyres or new, clear track or in traffic.
Then this morning he went out on a streaming-wet track and slammed down double pole positions, one for this afternoon’s first race of the New Zealand Grand Prix weekend and one for the Grand Prix itself.
His Neale Motorsport team-mate Andrew Tang, who leads the championship, completed a team lock-out of the front row of the grid with second for both sessions ahead of his main championship rival Jann Mardenborough, with American driver Ryan Tveter recovering strongly from a big crash yesterday to be fourth in both sessions.
Race one for the Dan Higgins Trophy takes place this afternoon at 3:00 pm.
