Lotus has published rendered preview images of its latest Formula 1 contender, entitled the E22.
In contrast to rivals McLaren and Williams, the Enstone-based outfit has produced an asymmetric ‘twin-prong’ solution to the sport’s new nose regulations, which have been introduced in a bid to improve safety.
Lotus will be the only team absent from the opening pre-season test at Jerez next week, with the team instead opting to officially pull the covers off its new machine ahead of the second gathering in Bahrain.
Earlier on Friday, it was announced that Gérard Lopez is to become Lotus’ Team Principal with immediate effect, after Eric Boullier, who has since been linked with a move to McLaren, opted to tender his resignation.
The continuing Romain Grosjean and new arrival Pastor Maldonado will represent the team this season.
