Red Bull has been reprimanded by the stewards after a team member did not wear head protection during a pit stop.
The stewards concluded that Red Bull broke Article 23.11 of the FIA’s sporting regulations when a member of the team was not wearing the required protective gear during one of Daniel Ricciardo’s pit stops.
The incident occured during Ricciardo’s third stop, in which the Australian driver was released prematurely from his pit box as his left front tyre was not firmly attached to his RB10. The team member, pictured above, was not wearing the head gear while he was cooling Ricciardo’s car as mechanics worked on the problematic tyre.
As a result of the unsafe release, Ricciardo was awarded a 10 second stop and go penalty as well as a 10 place grid penalty for next weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix.
