Marc Márquez remained in control during Friday afternoon’s second practice session for the French Grand Prix at Le Mans.
The reigning World Champion posted a 1:33.452 on his Repsol Honda machine to shave almost a second off his time from opening practice and put him seven thousandths clear of Pramac’s Andrea Iannone.
Gresini rider Álvaro Bautista ended up third quickest, while Tech 3 Yamaha’s Bradley Smith, who showed no negative signs in the wake of his morning crash, and Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa completed the top five.
Stefan Bradl and his LCR team finished the day sixth fastest, narrowly in front of Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo and Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso.
Forward Racing’s Aleix Espargaró and Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi rounded out the top ten runners.
Gresini rookie Scott Redding suffered a fall at Turn 9 with 15 minutes to run, but escaped unharmed.
