Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa set the standard on the second day of this week’s Sepang test.
The Spaniard, who is the factory outfit’s sole representative due to team-mate and reigning World Champion Marc Márquez’s broken leg, set a time of 2:00.039 to lead Forward Racing’s Aleix Espargaró by 0.281 seconds.
Opening day pace-setter Álvaro Bautista wound up third for Gresini, just under half a second adrift of Pedrosa’s best effort, with Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi and Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
LCR’s Stefan Bradl, Ducati’s Cal Crutchlow and Tech 3’s Pol Espargaró were the last of the runners to lap within a second of Pedrosa, while Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo and Tech 3’s Bradley Smith completed the top ten.
