The new Lamborghini Huracan GT3 has been disqualified from its debut victory in the Monza Blancpain Endurance Series race, handing victory to the Rinaldi Ferrari.
Lamborghini trio Fabio Babini, Andrew Palmer and Jeroen Mul dominated the three-hour Monza event, leading the majority of the event and finishing 37 seconds clear of Ferrari pair Norbert Siedler and Rinat Salikhov.
But on Sunday evening the Monza stewards ruled that the GRT Grasser-run Huracan had infringed refuelling restrictor rules and excluded it from the meeting.
That promoted the Pro-Am class Ferrari to victory ahead of the WRT Audi driven by reigning Blancpain GT champion Laurens Vanthoor, ex-Formula 1 test driver Robin Frijns and 2010 Indy Lights champion Jean-Karl Vernay.
Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin’s AF Corse Ferrari now completes the podium.
