Martin Truex Jr and Furniture Row finally took their first victory of the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup season at Pocono after a run of near-misses.
Truex had led the most laps in each of the last three Cup rounds but could not turn those performances into victories.
His Pocono win was his first since the 2013 Sonoma race and Furniture Row’s first since Regan Smith took its only previous Cup victory at Darlington in ’11.
Champion Kevin Harvick was Truex’s main opposition, the pair taking turns in the lead.
But Truex took control in the final stages and pulled clear as Harvick lost ground at restarts during a run of late yellows.
By the time Harvick got back through to second, Truex was long gone and he maintained a 1.3-second lead to the flag.
Jimmie Johnson recovered from a puncture to take third, with Joey Logano coming through to fourth despite starting last following a transmission change and also getting a pitlane speeding penalty.
Polesitter Kurt Busch ended up fifth ahead of Matt Kenseth.
Carl Edwards led for a spell early on after passing Busch, but faded to 15th at the finish.
