The Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland enters its 25th season with an array of new aspects to it. At the first race of the season from 2nd to 4th May at Hockenheim sixteen teams with 36 drivers from twelve countries will be lining up with their new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (type 991), based on the seventh generation of the Porsche 911. Last year, the new 460-PS Cup vehicle was used exclusively in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup as part of Formula 1’s support programme.

One driver who must certainly be considered as one of the top favourites in the battle for the title in this anniversary year is 27-year-old Christian Engelhart (Konrad Motorsport). However, the experienced Porsche driver from Kösching in Bavaria faces strong competition from at home and abroad. Fourteen Germans, five Austrians, four Swiss, three Dutchmen, two Americans and one driver each from New Zealand, France, Spain, Poland, Denmark, Finland and New Zealand will also be aiming to demonstrate their capabilities and win important points.

Among them are a total of five drivers being supported by Porsche’s young driver development programmes. Connor de Phillippi (USA) and Alex Riberas (Spain) will both be starting their second season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. Both Connor de Phillippi (Förch Racing by Lukas Motorsport) and Alex Riberas (Attempto Racing powered by Häring) have decided to stay with the teams that they raced for last year. In the 2013 season both Porsche Juniors were already able to get themselves noticed with some excellent results and are now very highly motivated to play a decisive role in this year’s championship. New Porsche Junior Sven Müller (Germany) will be contesting his first season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland with Team Deutsche Post by Project 1. Klaus Bachler (Austria/Konrad Motorsport), who is being supported in his third year as a Porsche Junior, is racing both in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, as is Earl Bamber (New Zealand/Team 75 Bernhard), the reigning Porsche Carrera Cup Asia champion and winner of the International Cup Scholarship, which was offered for the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup once again this year.

“The Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland is booming. I’m delighted by the large field of starters, the great depth of ability and the fantastic mix of professional drivers, up-and-coming youngsters and enthusiastic amateurs,” says Andrea Hagenbach, Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland general manager. “To be able to present such a strong participant field so far ahead of the start of the season says a lot about the appeal of our series.”

This season the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland is staging eight events in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters(DTM) supporting programme and one at the ADAC GT Masters on the Sachsenring.
