Superstars rebranded to SuperTouringSeries

Autosport

Autosport7:53am 5 December 2013

The next generation of the Superstars International Series, re-branded as the SuperTouringSeries, will be officially launched at next year’s AUTOSPORT International Show in Birmingham.

The championship is currently undergoing a restructuring of its management, including the formation of a new parent company named Pan Asia Racing Enterprise, and the appointment of ex-Ferrari and Super Aguri Formula 1 team manager Daniel Audetto as the series’ new CEO.

The rest of the details, including a new logo, official partners, participating teams, format, calendar and regulations will be unveiled at the NEC next January.

“I am very happy to take leadership of the SuperTouringSeries dedicated to such fabulous cars,” said Audetto.

“I have already had two meetings in London and Milan with 16 prestigious international teams and am confident that we will have eight brands represented from Europe, Japan and America.

“Together with the highly experienced people who have been at the core of Superstars created by Maurizio Flammini several years ago, we know we can develop and deliver an innovative and extremely exciting series at international level.

“I hope to persuade Maurizio to join our team in the near future.”

As previously reported by AUTOSPORT, the new series is expected to feature a license-based entry system, with two separate classes and a one-race format.
