Veloster will be reduced from four model grades to two high specification versions – the normally-aspirated Veloster and the Veloster SR Turbo.
Still selling strongly in its sixth year on the Australian market, the striking three-door Hyundai Veloster coupe is expected to maintain its impressive market share as this latest model line change takes effect.
The entry Veloster, powered by a normally-aspirated 1.6-litre four cylinder direct-injection engine rated at 103kW and 167Nm, combines two previous model grades into one.
Compared to the previous entry model, it gains leather-appointed seats, electric driver’s seat, Proximity Smart Key with Push Button Start, climate control, panoramic glass sunroof, electric folding mirrors and many other desirable items (see diagram below). While it loses the satellite navigation system, CD player, premium audio system and steering-wheel mounted phone controls of the previous Veloster +, it gains Apple CarPlay and Google Now (Android) voice activation.
It is a similar story for Veloster SR Turbo. Powered by a turbocharged version of Veloster’s 1.6-litre engine, rated at 150kW and 265Nm, the SR now represents even better value than ever.
The previous model’s strong value story is retained thanks to the addition of the Apple Carplay, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control and electrically folding and heated side mirrors.
“These cars are superbly appointed,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia Director of Marketing, Oliver Mann.
“We have concentrated on the features our customers have told us they like the most. Keeping popular, high-value items such as the panoramic sunroof and leather-appointed upholstery has led to a sharper overall package for both Veloster models.
“Veloster is more than just a brilliant, unique, and surprisingly practical design – it is without doubt the best-value, best-equipped car in its class, now more than ever.”
