Mahindra has today confirmed title sponsorship of its North Island Endurance Series for a further three years.
The inaugural series ran events this winter at Pukekohe, Taupo and Hampton Downs, with excellent grids and a huge range of cars from Porsche to Seat and Juno to SuperTourer at the front, with the packed fields including cars from Ferrari, Panoz, Radical, Ford, Holden, Suzuki, Honda, Lotus, Subaru, Mazda, BMW, Chevrolet, Nissan and Toyota.
Drivers included Craig Baird, John McIntyre, Paul Manuell, Craig Innes, Kenny Smith, Jono Lester and Simon McLennan with seventy five plus amateur and gentlemen racers making for a varied but friendly field. Top New Zealand teams like Motorsport Services, JMR and International Motorsport led the professional outfits who ran in the series with many more smaller and home run teams joining in the fun.
Television, a good prize pool orientated around the drivers and further support from companies like Race Brakes and Hankook also helped make the series a huge success.
“It’s been a great inaugural series for Mahindra as the sponsor and we have been very pleased indeed with the exposure the brand has gained through its involvement,” explained Mahindra’s Stefan Calcott.
“The best part has been seeing so many working together for the betterment of the sport and we want to be there as the title sponsor as the North Island Endurance Series continues to go from strength to strength. The amount of drivers and teams saying they want to be involved next time around is already looking impressive.”
