New Zealand’s most innovative tourism facility, Highlands Motorsport Park, has today taken delivery of an Aston Martin Vulcan, and unveiled the supercar to the public with a spectacular maiden voyage.
The only supercar of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, and one of only 24 Vulcans produced worldwide, the luxury track-only vehicle is the highest value production car to be sold in New Zealand, at $4.2 million NZD.
The Aston Martin Vulcan is a fusion of the luxury British carmaker’s extensive motorsport experience and renowned road car expertise. The track-only supercar demonstrates Aston Martin’s flair for design, with the striking vehicle engineered exclusively for extreme performance on-track.
Highlands Motorsport Park owner, Tony Quinn, said taking delivery of Vulcan at the home of motorsport in New Zealand was a special moment.
“As Highlands celebrates its third birthday this month, we are thrilled to welcome the Highlands Vulcan to the family. I have an immense amount of respect for the heritage of motorsport in New Zealand and the legacy it has around the world, and I think that it is a fitting tribute that New Zealand will be home to an Aston Martin Vulcan.
“Highlands is all about providing out of the box experiences for everyday people – the team work hard to ensure that we provide unique experiences for our visitors, and the arrival of Vulcan is a further example of this,” said Quinn.

To mark the occasion, Highlands Motorsport Park opened its doors to the Cromwell community to witness Vulcan taking to the track on Saturday morning. In addition, Highlands offered an exclusive Aston Martin Vulcan hot-lap experience to those looking to partake in the true craftsmanship and decadence of the Aston Martin Vulcan on the best circuit in the Australasia. Ten experiences were made available, with two rides donated to the Halberg Trust and a local fundraiser for a family who lost their father in a tragic helicopter accident, along with $1000 from each ticket donated to Cure Kids and Relay for Life.
Following its debut this weekend, the Aston Martin Vulcan will be on display for the public to see at the Highlands National Motorsport Museum until September 2016.
