The BBC has confirmed that the Top Gear Live event scheduled for Stavanger in Norway next week has been postponed.

The British Guardian newspaper reported that the ongoing suspension of Top Gear’s star presenter Jeremy Clarkson has caused organisers to pull all four performances at the Somarka Arena, as he is the central character in the shows and has appeared in all of them so far.

The popular live events are spin-offs of the hit TV show, and are licensed by BBC Worldwide with partner Brand Events. Clarkson was scheduled to appear alongside his regular co-presenters James May and Richard Hammond.

“Top Gear Live regrets to inform ticket holders for next week’s shows in Stavanger, Norway, that we will be postponing all four performances, with rescheduled dates for later this year to be confirmed within the next fortnight,” said a spokesman.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this will cause fans and we will endeavour to contact all ticket holders directly to inform them of the change of date.”

Top Gear Live has played to 1.9 million spectators across the world.

The findings of a BBC inquiry over Clarkson’s conduct, following a ‘fracas’ in which he is alleged to have punched a producer, is expected next week.
