The below is a statement from Motorsport New Zealand President Shayne Harris.
It is with regret that MotorSport NZ advises you of the passing of Ian Snellgrove.
Ian was a very respected member of the motorsport community and filled many roles within the sport over many years including Technical, General Manager, Steward, Chief Circuit Safety Inspector, Licence Examiner, Head of the Circuit Safety Department and Manager of the MotorSport New Zealand Scholarship Trust.
It was in the area of the development of the driving skills of young drivers that Ian had a passion – firstly with the establishment of Pro-Drive and more recently the MotorSport New Zealand Scholarship Trust and the Elite MotorSport Academy.
Ian will be missed and the thoughts of MotorSport New Zealand and the wider motor sport community are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
Shayne Harris
President
