Promising London youngster Enaam Ahmed has signed on to compete in the Toyota Racing Series.
The 16-year-old will make his maiden appearance in the series, which is contested across five rounds in January and February, in Ruapuna, near Christchurch, on January 14.
Ahmed is one of the youngest entrants and will be up against the best single seater drivers from around the world.
However, the Londoner has already made a name for himself in his young career.
He eclipsed three-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton’s karting records by winning both junior KF3 European and world championships as a 14-year-old in 2014.
Ahmed bagged a record five karting titles that year, before making his debut in car racing by competing in the 2015 British MSA Formula Championship, in which he claimed rookie of the year honours.
Ahmed graduated to the British Formula 3 Championships this year as the youngest driver in the field.
He impressed in his debut campaign, winning two races on his way to finishing fifth overall.
Ahmed will join Australian Luis Leeds and Dutch youngster Richard Verschoor at the Giles Motorsport team.
A full field of 20 cars will line up in the series, which wraps up with the New Zealand Grand Prix at Manfeild, near Palmerston North, on February 12.
