Finance Ezi Racing has been developing real-time strategies to get the most out of its vehicles and drivers. A couple of key professionals have joined the team to help take it to the next level. Greg Wooster has been appointed Team Manager and Head Engineer and brings with him a wealth of International experience and know-how.
Ian Wally Walburn has also committed to us for the rest of the year, as Race Engineer and will manage the team at Townsville while Greg is away with commitments with Porsche Asia, GT’s and the Sepang 12 hour.
In the words of team owner, Maurie Pickering, “We have introduced new regimes to enable better engineering and statistical analysis of race times to gain every advantage we can. We have also developed physical and psychological testing and training platforms for Josh Hunter and Andre Heimgartner to develop strength and endurance profiles.
“Because the boys are new to V8s there is a ‘get back to basics’ program in place to help them assimilate with the behavior of the vehicles.
“This series is about ‘development’ and we take that idea very seriously”
Josh has enjoyed the learning curve and apart from the physical training required, has developed a more fundamental understanding of every part of the V8 he is driving. Knowing every little twitch the car makes on the track can only help improved his responses. And that will reflect in better lap times.
Andre has really benefitted from this week, particularly just in the art being a better racing driver and also understanding the car more mechanically.
But he’ll have to put that knowledge to back of mind as he practices at Winton for next week’s action packed world of wings and slicks that is Formula 3, in the country’s fastest race cars. The Formula 3s hit the Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin next week on June 14-15. The good news is that Finance Ezi livery is gracing the open wheeler of Erebus Motorsport with Andre in the drive seat.
