The 2015 edition of the annual CRC Speedshow held over the weekend was a roaring success with a huge range of vehicles, motorsport superstars and fun activities to delight the thousands of show visitors who attended the event.
This year people enjoyed a rare opportunity to meet a multitude of motorsport legends including American Jessi Combs, our very own World Rally Championship driver Hayden Paddon, V8 Supercar drivers David Reynolds, Dale Wood and Andre Heimgartner, among many others.
The motorsport superstars made the most of the event by participating in popular signing sessions with show visitors, the New Zealand Indoor Off-road Championship (NZIOC) celebrity remote-control car championship, the Right Karts Celebrity Kart Challenge and other exciting events.
Sunday also saw the even bigger Meguairs Charity Car Cruise which raised almost $5000, and as an added bonus, the team from Smits Group donate $1.00 for every new like on their Facebook pages (www.facebook.com/LoveMyCarNZ and www.facebook.com/LoveMyCarNZ).
Returning this year was Kartsport New Zealand, doing several demonstrations, plus flying-lap speed contests between flying drones, rally cars, and karts, with a big jet car flame show as the finale in the Ideal Wheels Live Action Arena.
Top achievers the Teng Tools Grand National Rod and Custom Show and the Classic Cover Insurance Classic Show were honoured at exclusive prize givings, and Jessi Combs as a hot rod fabricator herself, was one of the judges and presented the awards.
The Teng Tools Grand National Rod and Custom Show was won by Mangere Bridge’s John Hinton for his stunning 1956 Ford F100 Pick Up truck. While the Classic Cover Insurance Classic people’s choice winner was Sunny Hills’ Mandy Sinclair with her original wood panelled American 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe Woodie.
CRC Speedshow managing director Ross Prevette says, “We have had a brilliant weekend at the CRC Speedshow and show goers revelled in speaking to experts representing, talking to our motorsport stars and looking at a huge range of cars and motorbikes.
“We’re looking forward to doing it all again in 2016 and really can’t thank the show visitors and our fantastic sponsors enough for making it extra special this year. Next year is our 10th birthday so we’ll be working hard to make it epic.”
