Gentleman racer Mike Weeks suffered a career ending shunt at Teretonga in 2005, spearing into the infield earth bank exiting the fast turn one sweeper in his Porsche GT3 Cup car. Jumping over the gravel trap, Weeks made heavy contact with the wall and was in serious condition, but has since made a substantial recovery.
