The first example of a new generation NZV8 Holden will feature at this weekend’s CRC Speedshow with former Bathurst winner, V8 Supercar driver and top NZV8 competitor Jason Bargwanna joining the team to talk about the new-look series.
Brian Lawrence, marketing manager for the MotorSport NZ Gold Star Championship NZV8 category, says the Tulloch Motorsport team has been working on the Holden VEII flat out in order to have it ready for CRC Speedshow. The team then plan on running the new Holden in the South Island Endurance Series commencing in September. The three-round series will be the perfect shakedown for the championship series, with team owner and NZV8s’ chairman Ian ‘Inky’ Tulloch behind the wheel.
“We revealed the new generation NZV8 Ford at last year’s CRC Speedshow and with just a few months before the new cars hit the track for the first time, we’re excited to show V8 fans the new Holden which will be driven in the championship series by Melbourne-based Jason Bargwanna,” says Lawrence.
Also of note for V8 race fans will be the Toyota V8 engine sourced from Toyota Racing Development (TRD) which will power the brand-new NZV8 Toyota Camry.
“This is the engine which will run in the first NZV8 Camry being campaigned by Tony Richards Toyota,” notes Lawrence. Hamilton’s Martin Short, a frontrunner in the 2011/12 championship, has already been confirmed as the driver.
Also presented will be the 2011/12 championship-winning Ford Falcon owned by Auckland motorsport competitor Kevin Williams and driven by Angus Fogg and Nick Cassidy’s Toyota Racing Series single seater which won the 2011/12 TRS championship and the prestigious New Zealand Grand Prix.
Lawrence is looking forward to the opportunity to speak with V8 race fans about the upcoming season of NZV8 racing which will include two Gold Star championships for the first time.
“Fans can find out more about our ultimate race fan Facebook competition with the chance to win a massive NZV8s prize package including hot laps, flights, season passes and more. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the ASB Showgrounds for CRC Speedshow this weekend!”
CRC Speedshow is open from 9 am Saturday and Sunday, 21 and 22 July, at Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds. Tickets are available at the gate with news and all show details available on the website, www.speedshow.co.nz, or follow the show on Facebook and Twitter.
