Many fans have seen what goes on behind the scenes in the paddock at race meetings, but later this month Valvoline Racing Garry Rogers Motorsport will take that one step further, giving fans the chance to see what happens at the team’s workshop between rounds.
From 10am to 2pm on May 31, supporters can see the new generation Volvo S60s up-close and get an understanding of what goes on away from the track.
Driver Scott McLaughlin is right on form, having bagged four ARMOR ALL Pole Positions this season and clinching his first Championship race win in the Volvo at the last meeting in Perth – he will be there to meet and sign autographs, along with the team’s newest addition, Swede Robert Dahlgren.
You’ll also see the prized trophy cabinet and a blast from the past – the Holden Commodore VT Garth Tander and Jason Bargwanna drover to victory in the Bathurst 1000 in the year 2000 lives there.
The best part?
“The biggest highlight – they’re going to see me!” Rogers jovially told v8supercars.com.au. “That in itself will be enormous – that’s why we’ve got the crowd control coming!” he laughed.
“It’ll be good – free access to the workshop, the build process, the whole race team that’s here. But it’s not restricted; you don’t have to buy a ticket.
“You can wander around, meet the drivers, the workforce – they’re all friendly blokes and will be here.
“The cars obviously will be here, so basically everything in our race team will be on display.
“The merchandise truck will be here as well, so people can get hold of that, spend their money wisely, and adorn themselves in the beautiful GRM clothing.”
To add to the fun, fans are encouraged to dress up as Rogers – who doesn’t mind impersonating others himself! Prizes will be awarded on the day, and you can see the pics below for some inspiration and Garry’s best looks over the years!
