Andrew Jones has topped both sessions of practice for the Dunlop Series at the Winton 360.
Jones – who also had a hit-out in Jason Bright’s Team BOC Commodore during main game practice and led the field for a time – came home just 0.0664sec ahead of Dunlop Championship leader Dale Wood, with last race winner Jack Perkins in third.
The day’s running has been interrupted by red flags, with wet weather at Winton.
Earlier this morning, it was Steve Owen and Chris Pither who rounded out the top three. Jones was the only driver in the ‘36s’ with a 1min36.4496, which shows the effect the weather has had, as his second session best time was a 1min30.0154sec.
All five drivers will participate as co-drivers in the PIRTEK Enduro Cup, beginning next event at the Wilson Security Sandown 500.
Jones currently sits fourth in the Dunlop Series Championship. Wood leads, followed by Ashley Walsh (10 and 17 in today’s two sessions), Daniel Gaunt (19 and 21).
Due to an increased field, tomorrow’s Dunlop Series qualifying will be separated into two parts, with the lower 50 percent from combined practice running for the first 20 minutes, and the upper 50 percent five minutes later for 20 minutes.
