DJR Team Penske returns to the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix at Albert Park with freshly painted cars and invigorated by a strong show of speed at the first round of the V8 Supercars Championship in Adelaide.
This weekend the team will run split liveries across the two cars, with Scott Pye’s No 17 entry set to sport the colours of Western Star Trucks, while Fabian Coulthard’s No 12 will showcase Detroit branding.
The continuation of Penske’s Australian and New Zealand brand partnerships with DJR Team Penske is strategic to the company’s marketing plans, with Western Star Trucks and Detroit hosting specific customer programs throughout the race weekend.
Looking forward to the event on 17 – 20 March, Randall Seymore, President of Penske Transportation Group International said, “After a very successful program with our various brands in 2015, we are excited to have both Western Star Trucks and Detroit on the DJR Team Penske Fords at the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix.”
“The team’s expansion to two cars has allowed us to significantly expand our customer and marketing program using the V8 Supercar platform, and the Australian Grand Prix is a perfect venue to promote both our premium truck and engine brands.
“Western Star Trucks and Detroit engines are an unbeatable chassis and engine combination on the highway, and the two Penske-branded cars will certainly look the part on track this weekend,” Mr Seymore said.
DJR Team Penske Managing Director Ryan Story said “Representing two major Penske brands at the one race event is a first for the team, and we are excited to race in Western Star and Detroit colours at Albert Park. Both brands are iconic within the transportation industry and our matching liveries really do them justice. The two cars will look striking against the backdrop of the Melbourne city skyline on the fast and demanding Albert Park circuit.”
“After a challenging, yet encouraging weekend at Adelaide last time out, we are excited to go racing again at Albert Park. Last year this proved to be a pretty tough event for our newly constituted team, but we are making great progress and our expanded group continues to gel well. Despite not being a championship event, it’s one we take very seriously indeed and certainly our drivers and the whole group will be chasing some solid results.”
The DJR Team Penske Falcons will be on track each day of the Australian Grand Prix event at Albert Park, 17 – 20 March.
