Results show all co-drivers jumped in for a stint in the 20 minute warm up session. It is expected most co-drivers will start today’s race.
It’s been the perfect start for Holden Racing Team’s car #22, with James Courtney/Greg Murphy at the top of the timesheets, with a 1min09.68 lap around the 3.1km Sandown circuit.
“Today is pay-day so we’ll see what happens,” Courtney told v8supercars.com.au.
“We ran heavy with fuel and ran old tyres so we wanted to simulate mid to late stint with the car.
“We changed a few things overnight with what we were suffering with yesterday and it seems to have come up really pretty good.
“I love the longer races and this is even longer than the 200km races we normally do. The best part about it I think is that because the conditions of the track change so much through the day and the handling of the car changes so much you have to adjust what you are doing. You have to adapt on the run. So I am happy about the base setup we are starting with.”
Ford closely followed, with David Reynolds/Dean Canto just 0.29sec off the pace in the Bottle-O Falcon, finishing the warm up second.
Russell Ingall/Tim Blanchard were third, with Chaz Mostert/Paul Morris, Jason Bright/Andrew Jones, Scott McLaughlin/Alex Premat, yesterday’s top Jamie Whincup/Paul Dumbrell, Fabian Coulthard/Luke Youlden, Lee Holdsworth/Craig Baird (Erebus) and Shane van Gisbergen/Jonathon Webb.
Others to note include Mark Winterbottom/Steve Owen in p11, first Nissan Michael Caruso/Dean Fiore 12, Craig Lowndes/Steve Richards 16, Garth Tander/Warren Luff 19 and Will Davison/Alex Davison 20th.
The Murphy/Courtney Commodore will start from sixth, alongside their teammates Tander/Luff.
