Fan favourite Greg Murphy has completed his co-driver stint and managed to hand the Holden Racing Team Commodore to Championship driver James Courtney in second, after starting from sixth.
There’s plenty of work for the 2010 V8 Supercars Championship, though, the Paul Dumbrell driven Red Bull Comomdore having an eight second lead over #22 on lap 88 of 161.
“We’ll see how much JC has got for that number 1 car but it’s pretty pacey,” Murphy told v8supercars.com.au after his stint.
“It was good. A little safety car there surprised us all!
“It was just getting more and more comfortable. I had a really good start but lost a bit of ground on the front two and couldn’t really do anything about that.
“Then the second stint we kept our front tyres on, put some new ones on the back and it was a good stint. Managed to stay in third spot for that duration and then after the safety car we managed to catch up to Webby and get past him and get her into second spot…
“He was starting to have a bit of a struggle and I think he knew that the more he fought the worse it was going to be for him.
“So it was good – he’s one of the sensible guys up there, so he didn’t do anything silly, just when I made a move he opened the door and let it happen so it’s nice to race with guys who don’t go silly, try and fight and just slow everybody down. It was good.”
