Covers have come off the new Volvo S60 this morning at The Rocks in Sydney. The latest manufacturer to join V8 Supercars has finally revealed the cars to be driven by Scott McLaughlin and Robert Dahlgren for Valvoline Racing GRM this season.
Powered by a B8444S engine developed by Polestar in New Zealand, one of the S60s ran at Phillip Island last week for initial testing ahead of the public sydney.com V8 Supercars Test Day this Saturday, where all 25 cars will run on-track.
Volvo released a video earlier in the week highlighting the new engines, and building anticipation for today’s launch in Sydney.
The transformation to the factory Volvo outfit has been a long, but rewarding, process for Garry Rogers and his team, after the switch was made public in June last year.
Since then, young star McLaughlin has had a contract extension, Swede Dahlgren has come into the team to steer #34, and the two beasts, unleashed today, have been built and made race-ready to hit Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend.
Stay tuned to v8supercars.com.au – there’s more to come from this morning’s Volvo launch soon.
