Walkinshaw Racing has picked Tim Slade to replace Russell Ingall in its V8 Supercars squad.
The organisation, which runs the single-car Walkinshaw squad alongside its Holden Racing Team programme, learned at the end of 2012 that this would be veteran driver Ingall’s final season.
Slade has taken six podium finishes in his five-year V8 career so far.
He has primarily driven for James Rosenberg Racing, which ran in partnership with Stone Brothers until that team was sold to Erebus Motorsport last winter.
That meant Slade and Rosenberg became part of Erebus’s new Mercedes programme for 2013.
The 25-year-old said he was thrilled to join a team with Walkinshaw’s heritage.
“Walkinshaw Racing’s achievements are second to none, and its recent results show it is coming to terms with the Car Of The Future chassis,” said Slade.
“It has an impressive depth of technical talent and a strong, ongoing development programme – everything that is required to be successful on-track.”
