Prodrive Racing (Australia) returning star Chaz Mostert has gone to spectacular measures to reveal his new Supercheap Auto-backed FG X Falcon V8 Supercar, drafting in Bathurst-winning co-driver Paul Morris to film the unveiling of his #55 machine in a quarry.

Mostert will race in the familiar yellow, black and red colours of Supercheap Auto Racing with support from a large suite of brands including Castrol, TSW Alloy Wheels, Stanley and Hungry Jack’s.

The 2014 Bathurst 1000 winner returns to racing after a four-month intensive rehabilitation program following a violent crash during qualifying for last year’s Great Race in which he sustained a broken leg and wrist.

The launch clip features Mostert racing his V8 Supercar in a quarry alongside Morris and acclaimed stunt driver Matt Mingay, highlighting the 2014 Bathurst 1000 winner is well down the road to recovery ahead of next month’s season-opening Clipsal 500.

“I am really excited to reveal my new colours for 2016 and to have done so in such a cool way with help from Paul, Matt and some sweet Supercheap Auto toys,” Mostert said.

“This season is a fresh start for me after the abrupt end to last season and with a brand new chassis, new sponsor and new engineer I have high hopes I can quickly get back among the frontrunners.

“I am not setting any specific goals as I am well aware it isn’t going to be an easy road back once we start racing but I’ve got a great group of people around me and I’ve hit all my rehab targets so we’ll start the season as strongly as possible.”

The reveal shoot sees Mostert pilot his #55 FG X Falcon alongside Morris in his Supercheap Auto-backed Sprintcar and Mingay in a similarly-liveried stadium super truck.

One of the key scenes in the video sees Mingay jump his truck over Mostert’s drifting V8 Supercar.

“Supercheap Auto spared no expense to put this clip together and it shows their intention to continue to use the sport and now our team to promote their business and affiliated brands,” the 2015 Pole Award winner said.

“Working with Matt to pull off the jump over the race car was really cool and it was a big effort by Supercheap Auto to get such a great crew working with Prodrive Racing and Paul’s team to pull this together. This is the first of many cool projects to come.”

Supercheap Auto Managing Director Chris Wilesmith said the level of effort by all parties involved in the shoot was a clear statement of intent.

“We have signed up with a very dynamic team and driver so we felt it only fitting to launch our new partnership in such an exciting way,” Wilesmith said.

“Chaz’s new V8 Supercar is undoubtedly from the Supercheap Auto Racing family but this year we’ve used more of our vibrant yellow in the livery to match his big personality and make us stand out on track.

“We’ve enjoyed getting to know Chaz during his recovery but can’t wait to start sharing success on and off the race track as the season evolves.”

Mostert will officially debut his new #55 Supercheap Auto PRA Ford today at the team’s pre-season test day at Winton Motor Raceway in northeast Victoria.
